Requests to join the Shakerag Courts will be sent to the Board Tennis Liaison and the Tennis Committee Chair for approval. Reservation Guidelines:
Courts may be reserved via http://www.reservemycourt.com/
The time limit for court use is 2 ½ hours, and then one should yield the court to a different party if waiting.
Courts may be reserved up to 6 days in advance. Default time is 10 minutes after scheduled start time. After this time has expired, the court will be considered available for play.
Please eliminate all reservations from the system should you realize that you cannot attend as expected. Anyone caught “over-reserving” and not attending the time slot will have their reservation access restricted.
Members of the same party may not reserve two consecutive time slots. The intent is that you play your 2 ½ hours and then yield the court to a different party.
Court reservations for ALTA and USTA matches may be made several weeks in advance by the respective team captains. Other matches, T2, K-Swiss, and League Tennis are to be signed up for as casual use. In the event of conflict, ALTA and or USTA matches will take precedence over the other leagues. Please refer to the next section for ALTA and USTA scheduled league play.
Teams may reserve up to five courts per week for their match play. Captains are responsible for all reservations, and should not allow team members to reserve additional courts on their own. Any player who circumvents this rule will lose access to our reservation system.
Requests for reserving the courts for social activities, round robin tournaments, summer camps, etc. must be submitted to the Tennis Committee for approval. The Tennis Committee alone has the right to reserve the courts for such events.
Individual lessons must be scheduled in accordance with #3 above. Note: non-residents may participate in group lessons, however all lessons must have >50% participation by Shakerag residents. This applies to both youth and adult group lessons/clinics
League Play
League play and practice schedules will be posted and will supersede all reservations and walk-on play. League play will have access to the courts 15 minutes before the scheduled start of match play.
League practices are only allowed during the scheduled practice times, which are approved by the Tennis Chairman at the captains meeting prior to the beginning of each season.
Team lessons must be held during scheduled practice times.
League practice will consist of 2 hours on 2 courts per week per team, and will begin no more than two weeks prior to the start of the season. Practice time cannot be split into two shorter sessions. Teams who make the playoffs may maintain their practice night and time for only as long as the team remains in the playoffs.
All teams are open to any residents of Shakerag. Residents cannot be refused from participating in league play. Shakerag residents interested in joining a team should call either their respective Tennis Committee member or contact the Tennis Chairman.
Captains are required to submit a copy of their roster, all non-resident fees, and the schedule for the upcoming season to the Tennis Committee at the captains meeting, which will be held prior to the season. Failure to submit a copy of the roster and non-resident fees at that time will result in the team being denied use of the facility for league activity, including practice and matches. If needed, a letter will be sent to ALTA or USTA to inform them that said team does not have permission to use the facility.
All new team formation requests must be submitted to the Tennis Committee for approval prior to the captains meeting. Failure to inform the Tennis Committee in advance will result in said team being denied use of the facility for league activity, including practice and matches.
The captain is responsible for any damages that occur during their match. Captains are responsible for ensuring that both the clubhouse and courts are cleaned after the match, which includes emptying the courtside garbage pails and returning the large garbage bins to their holding area.
Team captains are responsible for making sure that team members have read the tennis rules. Rules can be obtained from the Tennis Committee.
Make-up matches should not interfere with previously scheduled league practices or matched or non-league reservations. Whenever possible, make-up matches SHOULD be scheduled during the teams regular practice time. Matches are allowed to continue until completion. A captain may schedule a make-up match as many days in advance as necessary. The reservation should be identified as a “League Make-Up Match”.
Teams are limited to six women’s, six men’s, and six mixed doubles teams per season. IN the even that more teams want to play, a lottery conducted by the Tennis Committee will be held during the preseason meeting.
Non-Residents
Non-residents are not allowed on Shakerag courts unless a resident is present.
The resident to non-resident ratio on all teams SHOULD be 85% or greater. Non-residents must pay a $30 non-resident fee per season; all fees are due at the captains meeting prior to the start of the season. Exceptions must be requested in advance and can be granted by the Tennis Committee.
Non-residents who are delinquent from a prior season may not play again until all fees are brought current.
Non-residents may be added if they are necessary to reach the minimum level to form a team.
Residents are to be considered for team participation before non-residents
